Your voice matters. Your elected officials rely upon your feedback and preferences to guide their decision-making, and they want to hear from you about the governance of Douglas County. The Board of Douglas County Commissioners invites you to participate in the County’s online 2025 Citizen Survey, administered by Hill Research Consultants.

This confidential,  anonymous online citizen survey, which takes less than 15 minutes to complete, is one of the County’s ongoing efforts to engage Douglas County communities in the process of governance. In addition to the online version of the survey, some county residents will receive calls requesting that they complete the interview via telephone. Some residents may be invited by text message to participate.

“I really appreciate the time our community takes to engage with us,” said Commissioner Kevin Van Winkle. “Whether it’s Live Town Halls, emailing us, calling us, or participating in this survey, we only get better when we know what’s on our residents’ minds.”

The 2025 survey content includes baseline questions created for the County’s first quantitative citizen survey in 2006.  Methodology has been updated over time to ensure the best means for engaging and receiving input from a statistically accurate and representative sample of opinion from Douglas County registered voters aged 18 and older. Methodology includes landline (telephone), cell phone and online means.

“With every survey, we look forward to checking in on some baseline topics – and asking about new ideas,” said Commissioner George Teal. “This year, in addition to questions about our overall quality of life and services provided, we’re also wanting to hear from you about topics like camping and home rule.”

Following a thorough analysis of the findings, the comprehensive survey results based on all responses will be shared publicly, including placement on the County’s Citizen Surveys webpage.

“We often say we work for you, not the other way around,” said Commissioner and Board Chair Abe Laydon. “We appreciate every way our citizens engage with us and look forward to hearing their voices in this year’s community survey.”

All individual responses are confidential. The consultant does not disclose individual responses to Douglas County.
