We all know someone who has served in America’s armed forces. If you served, we thank you.
In honor of all who served, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners, Douglas County Veterans Service Office and the Douglas County Veterans Monument Foundation invite you to a Veterans Day ceremony to honor our American heroes. The event begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Monument Plaza, 301 Wilcox St. in Castle Rock.
This year, the program will feature several prominent local women who are Veterans, including Maria Ciano (US Navy), Dr. Julia R. Plevnia (US Army) and Laura Hefta (US Army). Douglas County Veterans Service Officer Darcy Hoffman (US Air Force) will lead the event as Master of Ceremonies. Each of these women will share her story of serving our country and community.
Other speakers include Douglas County Coroner Raeann Brown (US Coast Guard), and Douglas County Commissioners Abe Laydon, George Teal (US Army) and Lora Thomas.
The event will also feature an F-16 flyover by 140th Fighter Squadron, Colorado Air National Guard and music from local musician and 30-year Colorado resident Byron Miller.
