Whether you know an older adult in need of a helping hand or have a helping hand to give, join us on Saturday, Oct. 25, for Dougnad. This fall, we’re celebrating Douglas County’s semi-annual volunteer event by lending a helping hand to older adults by assisting with minor exterior home improvements such as planting flowers, pulling weeds, and raking leaves.
Visit our Dougnad webpage to learn more about the event and sign up to volunteer in the Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, or Parker areas.
Additionally, if you or someone you know is over the age of 60 and needs help with these types of projects, we want to hear from you!
Please fill out the older adult participation form on our webpage if you or someone you know meets the following requirements:
Eligibility will be determined on a case-by-case basis. County staff will review requests to determine eligibility for services and to match volunteers with older adult households.
“Dougnad – rooted in the Norwegian tradition of Dugnad and strengthened by our local faith partners – is a time when our community comes together for food, fellowship, and service,” said Douglas County Commissioner Abe Laydon. “This fall, we are proud to honor our Older Adults, whose wisdom and contributions continue to strengthen Douglas County. Join us in building a culture of volunteerism and connection for every family.”
The purpose of Dougnad is to inspire generational public service and reinforce the value we place on keeping our public spaces clean, safe and enjoyable for all.
