A new location is open for residents looking to drop off tree debris. Root balls like this one should be taken to the new location along Grigs Road.
A new site will be available Monday morning for Highlands Ranch residents needing to drop off tree debris following last week’s unprecedented storm.
Starting at 8 a.m. Monday, June 26, you can take tree debris – including root balls and tree branches – to a yard located near Grigs Road and McArthur Ranch Road. Look for variable message signs to direct you to the site.
Tree Debris Drop-Off
There are now three sites available for tree debris. Anything larger than a typical trashcan load should go to these sites:
- Highland Heritage Regional Park, 9651 S. Quebec. View map.
- Halftime Help Stadium at Redstone Park, 3280 Redstone Park Circle. View map.
- Grigs Road site at Grigs Road and McArthur Ranch Road. View map.
We recognize there is an ongoing need, so these sites will be open until further notice. If possible, loads with root balls should go to the new Grigs site.
If you are unable to transport your debris, Douglas County will be coordinating residential pick up in some of the hardest hit areas beginning later this week. In the meantime, please do your best to keep your slash/debris out of the roadway. If you can take some of your own debris to the drop-off sites, that helps tremendously.

Volunteers Needed
Do you want to help your neighbors recover from the unprecedented storm in Highlands Ranch? We need your help at our temporary slash site at Highland Heritage Regional Park.
Two volunteer shifts will run daily through Friday, June 30, – from 7 a.m. to noon and from noon to 5 p.m. Just show up to the shop at Highland Heritage Park at the beginning of the shift you desire with a willing heart, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, work gloves and sturdy shoes. You will be asked to sign a waiver on-site.
You will help Douglas County Staff direct traffic, unload slash and sort debris.
