Home Occupations

Would you like to run a business from your home?

The pandemic changed how we all work. But when does working from home become running a business out of your home? For residents in unincorporated Douglas County, there are zoning regulations that define what’s allowed and what’s not for home-based businesses.

Based on community inquiries, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners is considering changes to these regulations for residents in unincorporated Douglas County, and specifically for those living on 4.5 acres or more that are zoned for agriculture or rural development.

Visit Project Records Online for more information.

About the Proposed Changes

The proposed changes would loosen restrictions on the overall amount of space the business occupies on the property, specify the number of business-related vehicle trips, and regulate the size and weight of vehicles used for business.
