If you’ve driven past University Boulevard and County Line Road lately, you’ve likely seen the progress crews are making on the new pedestrian bridge. So much so that it’s time to place three new trusses for the bridge. This work will require full closure of University Blvd between the westbound C-470 ramps and County Line Road for one night beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, until 5 a.m. Sunday morning.
There will be detours and signage in place to lead motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians safely around the work zone. View detour map.
The full overnight closure will ensure the safety of construction crews and the traveling public. Crews will be working on the truss placement over the entire weekend from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29, but the closure is only scheduled for Saturday night. The closure may also happen Sunday night if additional work is deemed necessary to safely complete the truss placement.
Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should plan accordingly and use South Broadway as an alternate route during the closures.
Project Overview
The objective of the project is to construct a bridge to carry cyclists and pedestrians who utilize the C-470 Trail over University Boulevard (Colorado State Highway 177). The bridge will replace the existing intersection configuration, which currently requires users to make four separate roadway crossings totaling eight lanes of traffic, thus improving safety and user experience on this regional multi-modal trail. Additional work includes trail improvements to tie the existing trail system to the new bridge, drainage improvements, ramp improvements, as well as curb and gutter improvements.
