If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, the Douglas County Opioid Council wants you to know – you are not alone. We can restore hope. Support is here.
On Thursday, Sept. 25, the Douglas County Opioid Council launched a new public awareness campaign designed to reduce stigma and strengthen community awareness about opioid use. To expertly inform the campaign, the Council collaborated with individuals with lived experience as well as recovery support professionals in Douglas County.
Opioid use in Douglas County often remains unseen, but it is a far greater issue than you may think. That’s why the Council is committed to finding tailored strategies and solutions for combating opioid use in our unique community.
“Opioid use often hides in the shadows, but its impact is felt across every community, including ours here in Douglas County,” said Douglas County Opioid Council Co-chair and Douglas County Commissioner Abe Laydon. “By launching this campaign, we are amplifying the voices of those with lived experience to break down stigma and make it clear that recovery is possible.”
“Today marks a pivotal moment for our community with the launch of the first adult awareness and education campaign from the Douglas County Opioid Task Force,” said Douglas County Opioid Council Co-chair and Castle Pines City Councilman Roger Hudson. “This initiative is not merely a campaign; it represents a profound commitment to preventing addiction and promoting mental health. By fostering awareness, we are creating pathways for change that can truly transform lives and strengthen families throughout Douglas County.”
