When you see an unhoused person near your business or home, we know you want to find a way to connect them with resources and expert help. Now, the specially trained Navigators with Douglas County’s Homeless Engagement, Assistance and Resource Team (HEART) can receive your text messages as well as phone calls and emails.

To contact a member of HEART, please call or text* 303-660-7301 or complete the online referral form.

“We have functionally ended homelessness in Douglas County through our dedicated HEART Navigators and Handouts Don’t Help Campaign. We now want to make sure the compassionate members of the public can reach us easily with their preferred form of communication: TEXT,” said Commissioner Abe Laydon, Chair of the Homeless Initiative and founder of HEART. “Introducing text messaging capability to connect the public with Navigators will help us continue to ensure that no one falls through the cracks in Douglas County.”

HEART is a co-responder team that pairs Navigators with local law enforcement to respond to community calls regarding homelessness and provides support and resources to people experiencing homelessness.  This co-responder team strengthens the system of support for those experiencing homelessness.

Partnered with law enforcement, the community approach of HEART helps ensure people experiencing homelessness do not end up in emergency rooms or jail but rather are directed to community services.
