Are you a sculptor? Do you know a talented artist whose work should be seen by the community? Douglas County’s well-established Art Encounters program is searching for artists to submit their work to be on public display in highly visible areas of Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Lone Tree and Roxborough for one year. Artists will also receive a $1,000 stipend.

Art Encounters was created by citizen advocates for the arts to promote public interest in art, develop community pride and draw visitors to the retail and civic areas where pieces are displayed. Local artists and those from throughout the country are invited to submit work to this program, which is an essential part of our vibrant community.

Chosen sculptors receive a $1,000 stipend and will be considered for the $1,000 people’s choice honorarium and the $1,000 kid’s choice prize. Additionally, since the program’s inception, more than 22 pieces have been purchased or donated.

All applications must be received online no later than Friday, March 29. Selected work will be on display from May 2024 to May 2025. Read about submission requirements.

Art Encounters was born from efforts of the Douglas County Cultural Council, the statutorily required local citizen advisory board that, since 2007, has granted Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) funds toward the Art Encounters program. Douglas County Libraries and the Town of Castle Rock also provide funding to participate in the program.
