The Colorado General Assembly enacted House Bill 01S2-1006 in 2002, requiring local governments to adopt a recreation and tourism element with their Master Plan. In response, Douglas County adopted the Recreation and Tourism Plan (the Plan) as a sub-element of the Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) in 2004. The 2016 updated Recreation and Tourism Plan includes a current inventory of recreation and tourism opportunities, an updated narrative regarding the effects of technology and demographics on recreation and tourism trends, current economic information, and tourism options in the County.
