Recreation & Tourism Plan

The Colorado General Assembly enacted House Bill 01S2-1006 in 2002, requiring local governments to adopt a recreation and tourism element with their Master Plan. In response, Douglas County adopted the Recreation and Tourism Plan (the Plan) as a sub-element of the Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) in 2004. The 2016 updated Recreation and Tourism Plan includes a current inventory of recreation and tourism opportunities (as of the adopted date of the plan – July 10, 2017), an updated narrative regarding the effects of technology and demographics on recreation and tourism trends, current economic information, and tourism options in the County.
