On Oct. 25, 2025, our community came together to assist older adults in Castle Rock, Castle Pines, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree and Parker with minor exterior home improvements, like raking leaves and taking care of fall planting.
Douglas County’s Dougnad volunteer program is modeled after the Scandinavian tradition of dugnad where citizens meet up with family, friends, and neighbors for coffee and pastries then disperse into the community to do volunteer work such as planting trees or cleaning parks. The purpose of Dougnad is to inspire generational public service and reinforce the value we place in Douglas County by keeping our public spaces clean, safe and enjoyable for all.

On April 25, 2025, community members of all ages came together to plant trees in Bayou Gulch Regional Park, a perfect way to celebrate Arbor Day and National Volunteer Month. For this Dougnad, we partnered with Douglas County School District to inspire a sense of community and reinforce the importance of volunteering among our youngest residents.
On Sept. 28, 2024, community members spread across the County to plant trees at Challenger Regional Park, clean up Marcy Gulch and the Southridge Area, and clean up pet waste at the Glendale Farm Dog Park, a perfect way to give back during National Cleanup Month.
Douglas County celebrated the launch of our Dougnad volunteer day on April 26, 2024. Our community came together to plant seedling trees at Pinery Park.
