Drive through University/Lincoln and Quebec in Highlands Ranch? Your construction break is here. The intersection project’s winter shutdown, begins today, Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Where: Intersection at University/Lincoln & Quebec in Highlands Ranch.

Why: The winter shutdown – during which no construction will occur – is necessary for safety of crews and so pavement temperatures are high enough for concrete paving.

What: During the shutdown, traffic will be restored to its original traffic pattern, and all traffic control devices will be removed until construction resumes in the spring of 2024.

When: The winter shutdown begins Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023. Construction will begin again in March 2024.

Once construction resumes, crews will mobilize in the area again and continue work on the current construction phase.

About this Project

Douglas County is improving road quality and safety at the intersection at University/Lincoln and Quebec in Highlands Ranch. A project to rebuild and reconfigure the full intersection will begin in summer 2023. Work includes a new traffic signal system, raised pedestrian safety islands, additional eastbound and westbound lanes on Lincoln Avenue and University Boulevard, and a new right-turn-only lane from southbound Quebec Street to westbound University Boulevard.

Construction on this $13 million project began in August 2023 and is expected to be complete in late 2024. Douglas County thanks Douglas County Parks and Recreation, Highlands Ranch HOA and Highlands Ranch Metro District for their partnership in making this project possible.
