When you roll up to a work zone, it’s natural to feel a little frustrated. No one likes unexpected delays. Annual summer roadwork is underway in Douglas County, and we want everyone safe and informed.
Well-maintained roads are safer and last longer. Every year, Douglas County plans for maintenance on County streets, including residential roads and main thoroughfares. Crews refresh pavement markings, repair sidewalks and restore pavement. This work occurs during the warmer months of April through October due to temperature requirements for road materials.
Get details on this year’s construction projects by visiting DouglasRoadWork.com.
Our crews often include County residents who are proud to do this work for their neighbors each year. Watch a day in their life through the eyes of a young resident.
Sometimes, though, working in a construction zone can be a harrowing experience for our crews. Please help keep our workers safe. It is important to remember that lane closures, reduced speed limits and alternate routes are in place for their safety, as well as yours. Slow down. Drop the distraction.
We’re committed to helping reduce surprise delays. There are several ways to know what’s planned, so you can plan a little extra time:
