Be Prepared for Wildfires

Whether you’ve been in your home for decades or are building a new home, it’s important to learn how you can protect your family and home –including pets and livestock — or your business before there is a fire.

What can citizens do?

Emergency Management

The Douglas County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) monitors for emergency conditions in unincorporated Douglas County and is the main hub for coordination of disaster management and emergency preparedness. OEM encourages residents to watch for a Red Flag Warning, which means warm temperatures, very low humidity and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.
