Slash Mulch Program

The Slash-mulch site, in Castle Rock, is open on Saturdays only from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. through Oct. In n case of inclement weather, please call 303-663-6274 to ensure that the site will be open as scheduled.

Slash-mulch site is for Douglas County residents only.

Douglas County does not cut or pick up trees that are on private property.

The Slash-mulch site is for Douglas County residents only and is open on Saturdays from April through October, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In case of inclement weather, please call 303-663-6274 to ensure that the site will be open as scheduled.

Douglas County maintains two sites for slash drop-off. The two-site location addresses are listed below.

Castle Rock - 1400 Caprice Drive

Acceptable items at both sites include tree limbs, loose pine needles, shrubs, brush with a maximum length of 6 feet and a maximum diameter of 12 inches.  All loads must be covered when they arrive at the site.  

During the open season, a County operated loader will be available to load free wood chips for homeowners to use as mulch.  Material can be picked up anytime during the season the site is open to accept slash.

The Site Operator has the authority to refuse loads and require residents to reload and/or haul away materials found not to be in compliance with the regulations.

Unacceptable items include:

  • appliances
  • compost
  • decorative wood chips
  • dirt
  • fencing
  • grass / hay
  • household trash / yard waste
  • leaves
  • lumber / pallets / railroad ties
  • pine cones
  • roots / stumps
  • weeds
  • yucca plants

Trumbull / Swayback Site - 7826 South Highway 67 (2.5 miles North of Deckers)

This site is open Saturdays year-round for brush/slash drop-off.

  • November to Mid- March from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Mid-March through October from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
