By order of Sheriff Darren Weekly, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place for unincorporated areas of Douglas County.  Ordinance No. O-012-004 restricts open fires, open burning, and the use of fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Douglas County.

In observance of the New Year’s Day holiday, all Douglas County offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, for normal business. Many County services are available 24/7 on our online services page.

Join Douglas County for a public workshop on agritourism Thursday, Jan. 8

Agritourism offers valuable opportunities for residents to take part in activities where they can experience and learn about various facets of the agricultural industry, culinary pursuits, natural resources, and heritage.

Commissioners are committed to increasing accessibility to agritourism. In 2026, the Board will consider proposed updates to its zoning regulations to better define, allow, and streamline agritourism activities.

  • When: Thursday, Jan. 8, at 5:30 p.m. Staff presentation begins at 5:45 p.m.
  • Where: Conference Room A&B at the Philip S. Miller Building, 100 Third St. in Castle Rock
