Rangers and Land Management Specialists

Rangers / Land Management Specialists work within the Division of Open Space and Natural Resources.  Their primary mission is to provide for visitor safety, resource protection and coordination of land management activities on County-owned properties. They are also authorized to enforce Rules and Regulations by the Douglas County Commissioners and the Douglas County Sheriff.

Rangers/Land Management Specialists duties include:

  • Patrol and respond to emergencies on Douglas County properties,
  • Contact users to provide information,
  • Provide for safe use and compliance with Rules and Regulations,
  • Assist with Search and Rescue missions as well as manage the volunteer Mounted Patrol

Land management activities include:

  • Coordinating grazing and haying leases, and other agricultural activities
  • Forest management projects
  • Wildlife management
  • Prescribed fire and other natural resource issues
  • Coordinate trailhead and trail maintenance activities
