Project Update

Updated October 24, 2025:

Oct. 28, 2025: Crews will conduct mobile striping operations on County Line Road between University and Broadway on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drivers should expect minor delays and are advised to stay alert and use caution when traveling through the area, as construction equipment and activity will be present. Please do not pass construction traffic, watch for cones and avoid freshly painted areas, as wet paint may be present along the roadway. Speed limit in the construction zone has been reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph.

Construction is weather-dependent and subject to change.

Safety Message: This is an active construction zone. Please drive posted speeds, watch for crews and equipment, and avoid distractions behind the wheel. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue improving County Line Road. Before heading out, check your navigation app for real-time conditions and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Construction hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday work is possible if approved by the Douglas County Engineer.

Beginning in late December of this year, motorists should anticipate a full closure of County Line Road from Clarkson Street to the U-Haul business access area. The closure will last approximately 100 days, giving crews time to import dirt for construction at Lee Gulch. Business access will be maintained via County Line Road. Residential access to Clarkson Street will be maintained via Dry Creek Road. More information regarding this closure will be available later this year – stay tuned to our communications.

Total Project Duration: About 24 months.

Description

Since 2019, Douglas County has worked with partners to advance the final design, acquire right-of-way and prepare utility relocation design for a major water line located within the project area. Douglas County is partnering with the Denver Regional Council of Governments, the City of Littleton and the City of Centennial to fund the project. The total construction cost is estimated to be approximately $30 million for budget planning purposes which includes contingency funds, construction costs and consultant engineering costs to provide project management, inspections, and material testing for the project.

This project will include an additional travel lane in each direction, a new traffic signal at the Clarkson Street/County Line Road intersection, a mill and overlay for the portion of the road within the City of Littleton located between Phillips Avenue and Broadway, as well as adding sidewalks. Construction started in September 2025.
