Project Update

The Town of Parker is managing the construction of this project. Construction started in March 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in July 2025.

Description

Dransfeldt Road, which currently terminates at Twenty Mile Road, will soon be extended south to intersect with Motsenbocker Road, just north of Salisbury Park. This project has been planned for 20-plus years and will include a new bridge spanning Cherry Creek that will be the longest such bridge the Town of Parker has ever constructed.

The Dransfeldt Extension Project is a significant regional multi-modal transportation improvement project because of the following:

  • Provides a more reliable transportation network in northeast Douglas County.
  • Provides an additional crossing at Cherry Creek that improves emergency response time and provides an alternative route in the event that there is a major accident or another unforeseen event that requires a nearby major roadway to be closed temporarily.
  • Helps reduce ‘out of direction’ travel for both the Town of Parker and unincorporated Douglas County residents.
  • Provides redundancy in the roadway network for both the north-south travel shed and also for the east-west travel shed.
  • Provides both on-street bike lanes and connections to the Cherry Creek Regional Trail.
  • Recognizes the regional importance of this multi-modal project for the Town of Parker, partnering with Douglas County for the roadway project, and with Mile High Flood Control District for the Cherry Creek channel stabilization project.
  • Per an Intergovernmental Agreement approved in September 2023, Douglas County will contribute $8,000,000 for the construction phase and $875,000 during the design phase.
  • Project is a total investment of $32 million for the roadway and the channel improvement infrastructure.

Schedule

As early as May 13, work crews will implement a full road closure of Motsenbocker Road. During this road closure, access to businesses within the closure limits will be maintained. Please follow the signed detour route. In late summer of 2024, Motsenbocker Road will reopen to traffic but construction impacts and delays will continue with subsequent phase(s) of the work.
