Project Update

Will Palmer Divide Avenue be closed during construction?

Palmer Divide Avenue will be closed to through traffic within the project limits from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, but will remain open all other times and on weekends.

Detour: The traffic on Palmer Divide Avenue will be detoured to Jones Road to the north and Walker Road to the south. Traffic on Black Forest Road will be detoured to US Highway 83 to the west and Campbell Road to the east.

Description

The Palmer Divide Avenue Paving Project Phase 2 consists of extending the asphalt roadway on Palmer Divide Avenue from where the asphalt pavement currently ends to a point approximately ¼  mile east of Black Forest Road. See the Project Map for the specific location.

Palmer Divide Avenue lies on the southern boundary of Douglas County. This portion of Palmer Divide Avenue is currently maintained by Douglas County. This project will also replace two existing culvert crossings with new 24” RCP crossings including flared end sections. Paving of the road, which is currently gravel, will reduce maintenance needs and will support increased traffic on this section from the adjacent proposed development.

Schedule

Work is scheduled to begin in June and take one month to complete. The plan for Palmer Divide Avenue is to be closed to through traffic within the project limits from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, but will be open the remaining time and on weekends. Detour information in “Project Update” section above.
