Platte River Road Repair Project

Under Construction

Project Update

Project location: 2470 S. Platte River Road

Current Status

  • The project is currently in the early design and stabilization phase.
  • The supervisor has been monitoring the site for over a year.
  • A meeting is scheduled to provide design updates and prepare for construction slated to begin early next year (weather permitting).
  • Permanent repair work will go out to bid soon.

Description

Due to the recent rains and increased groundwater activity, the shoulder along this portion of Platte River Road has been lost. The affected area has been under observation for the last year, and the degradation has accelerated in recent weeks. The Platte River continues to erode the roadway shoulder, creating a significant safety concern as the road may not hold through the upcoming winter season.

Interim Safety Measures

  • Temporary traffic control will be implemented with a one-way stoplight system, in addition to the existing signal used for nearby bridge repairs.
  • Drivers should expect delays during this period.
  • Detour options: Travelers heading to Woodland Park or Sedalia are advised to use South County Highway 67 instead of Platte River Road.
