Whether your background and education are in health, history, community planning or the arts, your talent and expertise are needed on one of our many Citizen Advisory Boards, Committees or Commissions. It’s a hands-on way for you to engage in the County’s governance and serve your community.
Douglas County is actively seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on the following boards and commissions:
- Board of Health (Three alternates)
- Cultural Council (District I and District III openings)
- Historic Preservation Board (District III opening)
- Fair Board (Two openings)
- Noxious Weeds Advisory Commission (5 at-large openings)
- Parks Advisory Board (Two District I openings, one District III)
- Planning Commission (District I and District II openings)
- Open Space Advisory Committee (One District I opening, one at-large opening)
- Water Commission (Openings for alternates in all Districts)
“Volunteer members provide subject matter expertise and experience that is vital to the County’s decision-making process,” said the Board of Douglas County Commissioners. “The County and its citizens greatly benefit from this service.”
Do you have skills or interests that don’t match the volunteer opportunities listed? We want to hear from you. Douglas County accepts applications on an ongoing basis for future vacancies on nearly 20 different advisory bodies that span a variety of topics and disciplines. Applications will remain under consideration for one year from the application date.
