By order of Sheriff Darren Weekly, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place for unincorporated areas of Douglas County. Ordinance No. O-012-004 restricts open fires, open burning, and the use of fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Douglas County.

Summer roadwork ahead.
Let’s work together for safety.

Well-maintained roads are safer and last longer. Every year, Douglas County plans for the maintenance of County streets, including residential roads and main thoroughfares.

Doing this work safely takes us all.

We will:

Temporarily close lanes only when necessary for the safety of our crews and the traveling public.
Provide safely signed detours when necessary.
Set up a safe work zone using traffic control devices – such as cones, barrels, and signs – in line with national standards prescribed in the Manual on Uniformed Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD),
Keep you informed in a variety of ways – emails, mailed notices for residential work, Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor and our Traffic Alerts web page.

We ask you to:

Slow down.
Pay attention to signage in active work zones
Stay off your cell phone and drop other distractions.
