Paddle Days
Scheduled days start Memorial Day weekend and run through Labor Day weekend. Participants provide their own watercraft (paddle board, canoe or kayak).
The Douglas County Veterans Service Office will be temporarily closed June 5 through 8, 2023 while staff attends mandatory training.
Through extensive public outreach, the Authority established a conceptual master plan (PDF) in 2016. Future recreational opportunities may include soft-surface trails, non-motorized watercraft and fishing. To start, however, the reservoir will only be open for limited recreational programming.
With direction from the Authority, on-site seasonal programs and special events will be offered in the future. Registered participants will be allowed to enter the reservoir during the scheduled events.

The Incline features 132 steps and the Rosie Rueter Trail loop that leads to and from the parking lot is just over a mile long.
Fishing is not currently allowed at Rueter-Hess.
The fisheries are being surveyed. Once sports fishing can be sustainable, a recreational fishing plan will be adopted.
