Unclaimed Funds

Office of the Treasurer unclaimed funds represent checks, which have not been redeemed, issued for overpayments on property taxes.  The Department of Finance’s unredeemed checks are for payments to vendors of the County.

Douglas County has made several attempts to locate the rightful owners of these funds. If you wish to claim any of these funds, the contact information is available at the top of each report. Proof of claim will be required.

After a period of 1 year, and in compliance with Colorado State Statute, the Treasurer property tax overpayments and Finance vendor payments are turned over to the Great Colorado Payback. After a period of 6 months, and in compliance with Colorado State Statute, Public Trustee overages on foreclosed property sales are submitted to the Great Colorado Payback.  For more information visit the Great Colorado Payback website.
