The Veterans Service Officers are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Veterans Service Officers are part-time, 12 to 16 hours per week, serving the specific hours of Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to Noon. The Officers are responsible for a variety of duties including providing assistance to military veterans and their dependents by assisting with the preparation of applications and enrollments for VA benefits and services, and administrative support of office operations. Officers must be a resident of Colorado and have served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Services and honorably discharged. This ongoing federal program is the operational responsibility of County Administration, and funded by the general fund program is managed by community volunteers whose operating expenses are reimbursed through the State of Colorado.
