Board of County Commissioners

Douglas County Hall of Fame

You see acts of service in our community every day. You know businesses celebrating anniversaries, and students achieving high honors in academics, activities and sports.

Your Board of Douglas County Commissioners is seeking your help to celebrate the men, women and young people in our community who impact the lives of others – as we all honor each other.

Selected nominees will be inducted into the Douglas County Hall of Fame at a business meeting and featured on this page. Honorees will also receive a challenge coin from each commissioner. A challenge coin is a small medallion that symbolizes great achievement and recognizes extraordinary service.

Now, it’s your turn to tell us about someone who is deserving of community recognition. Use the form below to let us know who you believe should be recognized!

The Board of Commissioners launched this initiative by honoring Howard Berger – a WWII Veteran, lifelong public servant and centenarian who says his proudest moments are those in which he helped fellow soldiers overseas. Mr. Berger was presented with a Douglas County Challenge Coin and became the first distinguished honoree in the Douglas County Hall of Fame on March 11.

Letters of Recognition

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is proud to honor individuals whose accomplishments—whether in service to the community or personal milestones—reflect the excellence, dedication and spirit of Douglas County. Through official Letters of Recognition, the Board commends residents of all ages for making a meaningful impact.

This recognition may highlight acts of service, leadership in local organizations or outstanding contributions to public life, but it also extends to personal triumphs such as earning state or national honors, winning academic or athletic competitions or making a positive difference through creativity, innovation or perseverance.
