By order of Sheriff Darren Weekly, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in place for unincorporated areas of Douglas County. Ordinance No. O-012-004 restricts open fires, open burning, and the use of fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Douglas County.
Assistance with cremation, funeral, or burial costs up to $1,500 may be available for individuals who were receiving financial assistance or medicaid.
One-time assistance may be available to Douglas County residents for help, in certain instances, with rent, utility bills, prescriptions, gas, or food. This program is available dependent upon funding availability. Burial/cremation assistance for individuals who had low-income may also be available.
LEAP is designed to assist low-income households with paying their winter home heating costs but is not intended to pay the entire cost of home heating or utility usage. The program is available November through April.
